ECNL Announces Health and Performance Partnership with Fit for 90
RICHMOND, VA (February 24, 2015) – The Elite Clubs National League (ECNL), the nation’s premier female youth soccer platform, has entered into a partnership with Fit For 90, the leading player monitoring and readiness platform in the United States. Fit For 90 will educate and provide resources to ECNL clubs to help coaches and players maximize performance while minimizing risks of injury. As a tool for improving player health and performance, the Fit For 90 Player Monitoring Platform will be part of the ECNL’s expanding Health & Education Resources (H.E.R.) Platform.
Fit For 90 uses a dynamic online platform to quantify fatigue, stress and training load, muscle soreness, and training and competition readiness for individual players to assist in individual and team periodisation. This information allows coaches to adjust training demands for each player and team, and helps players learn to safely manage their athletic load.
Fit For 90 is used by youth clubs, college, national and professional teams throughout the country, including the US Soccer Women’s National Team, the Chicago Red Stars (NWSL), the New England Revolution (MLS), Sporting Kansas City (MLS), Orlando City (MLS), and many more college and youth club teams.
“The level of training and competition in elite youth female soccer has risen dramatically in the past 5 years,” said Christian Lavers, President of the ECNL. “The physical demands of the game have increased correspondingly, and players must cover more ground, be more explosive, and be sharper every day in order to be successful. Fit For 90 is an incredibly helpful tool to help coaches safely stretch the performance limits of players while reducing the risk of overtraining and injury, and to educate players on how to manage their training and competition schedules and loads.”
“Every parent and coach wants to give each player the best opportunity to succeed and the ECNL is leading the way with their commitment to player health and safety,” said Dr. John Cone, founder of Fit For 90. “Our system is designed to alert coaches when players are at an elevated injury risk, with coaches using Fit for 90 consistently reporting decreased injuries. We look forward to collaborating with ECNL clubs and coaches to optimize player development and performance by keeping our country’s best young players on the field.”
The ECNL and Fit For 90 partnership will kick off at the ECNL Play-Offs in Seattle, WA in June, where ECNL coaches will attend an educational seminar on periodisation, managing training loads for peak performance, and reducing risk of injury. Additional seminars for ECNL clubs will be held (digital and in person) throughout the year. Every ECNL club will also have access to the Fit For 90 online platform for their teams at significantly reduced rates for the year.
