In 2009-10, the ECNL Player ID Program focused on the 1994 age group. Based on scouting and evaluations compiled over three ECNL events, 30 players from the 1994 birth year were invited into a National Training Camp co-hosted by the ECNL and US Club Soccer, at no charge to the invited players. Based on performances at this camp, and evaluations from US Soccer National Staff Coaches Mike Dickey and Dave Rubinson, six players were invited directly into US Soccer National Team Camps within 2 months of the ECNL / id2 National Training Camp.
In 2010-11, the ECNL Player ID Program expanded to include both the 1994 and 1995 age groups.
In 2011-12, the ECNL significantly expanded its player identification program, announcing the introduction of ten ECNL Player Development Programs to be held across the country in early 2012, and an expanded National Training Camp in July. Both the Player Development Programs and the National Training Camp are part of US Club Soccer’s id2 National Identification and Development Program.
