Ali Krieger Recognized as 2017-18 ECNL S’Hero of the Year

  • August 21, 2018

RICHMOND, VA (August 21, 2018) – The Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) is excited to announce Ali Krieger as the 2017-18 ECNL S’Hero of the Year award recipient. As part of Amazing Young WomenTM movement, the ECNL is sharing the stories of S’Heroes who are role models for our nation’s young female athletes.

Krieger’s professional soccer career has spanned more than a decade, capturing gold at the Women’s World Cup in 2015 with the U.S. Women’s National Team, and playing in over 100 games in the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL). Prior to making her move to the NWSL, Krieger was a mainstay for FFC Frankfurt in the First Division of Women’s Bundesliga.  She has cemented a legacy of excellence, but it was her determination and perseverance that allowed her to reach her goals in the face of adversity and serious injuries. She now has set her sights on giving back, as she hopes to instill her love of the game and all of the qualities that surround it to the next generation of soccer players and beyond.

“I’m so honored to be recognized as the ECNL S’Hero of the Year. ECNL plays such a vital role in the development of young athletes and I am proud to be a small part of that work. I look forward to continuing to make a difference for female youth soccer players for many years to come,” Krieger said about receiving the S’Hero of the Year award and the impact of the ECNL.

Krieger received an impressive 52% of the 2017-18 S’Hero of the Year votes, narrowly beating out fellow S’Heroes, the Amazing Young Women of SoccerGrlProbs.
