MORE THAN A LEAGUE – The ECNL in 2017 and the Future

  • November 7, 2017

RICHMOND, VA (November 7, 2017) – Since its inception, the ECNL has challenged the norms of youth soccer.  What began as a disruption of the competition status quo evolved to a demand for change in every area of the game and created a platform of constant learning, growth and development for athletes, coaches, and clubs. The ECNL transformed the youth soccer experience and continues to change the game every year.

The ECNL is a league that annually graduates thousands of players to college soccer, with alums dominating the Power 5, the Final Four, and the NWSL Draft each year. It provides innovative development programs, an unparalleled competition environment, and coaching education opportunities that are among the best in the world.  But it is more. The ECNL is a league that spotlights dozens of athletes and leaders that have positively served and changed their club and community. It encourages holistic development, celebrating great players that also become great leaders in other areas, whether in academics, community service, personal mentoring, or in one of thousands of other ways.

Fundamentally, the ECNL and its clubs believe that being a great soccer player should not be exclusive of achievement and leadership in other areas, and that truly great players impact those around them to be better both on and off the field. Amazing Young Women should not limit their impact to the athletic field and the ECNL celebrates that ambition.

Because, fundamentally, the ECNL is MORE THAN A LEAGUE.

It is a sisterhood of current players, a network of thousands of alums, and a family of soccer clubs and coaches.  It is a developmental proving ground where lessons of perseverance, leadership, and commitment are learned, engrained, and embraced.  It is a celebration of universal development as an athlete, a teammate, and a leader.

The ECNL is a home to players that are game-changers on the field, and many who are just as impactful off the field.  The ECNL is a platform built to change the game, and is built to be MORE THAN A LEAGUE.

ECNL Phoenix begins in 3 days. Game-changers be ready.
