(April 14, 2015) – The 2014-15 ECNL season is dedicated to celebrating the Amazing Young Women that have helped mold this league into the top female youth soccer platform in the world.  As part of the campaign, the ECNL is encouraging amazing young women to share their stories.  Jane Campbell is a sophomore at Stanford University, where she is a member of the women’s soccer team, and is also involved with the U.S. Youth National Team System.  She grew up in Kennesaw, Georgia playing club soccer with Concorde Fire, a current ECNL member Club.  The ECNL caught up with Jane to learn more about her both on and off the field.

Q: What is your favorite US Youth National Team memory so far?
A: The U17 world cup is something I will never forget. The team, the coaches, the facilities and the fans were incredible and I will always be thankful for the chemistry we had on that team because I have made some life long friends.

Q: Snapchat or Instagram?
A: SNAPCHAT!

Q: What is your favorite ECNL Event and why?
A: I really liked the Phoenix event in Arizona. The weather was really nice and it was just a really well put together event.

Q: What is in your purse/backpack at this very moment?
A: My computer, headphones, a pack of gum, Advil, a few pencils, my keys, and my wallet.

Q: What is your biggest strength as a soccer player?
A: I feel I have a pretty good presence on the field, I like talking to my back line and making sure everything is organized. I also am fairly confident with the ball at my feet.

Q: What is something most people do not know about you?
A: I did ballet and jazz for 8 years before I stopped to focus on soccer.

Q: Christiano Ronaldo or Neymar?
A: Absolutely Neymar.

Q: Have you traveled outside of the country?  If yes, where did you go?
A: I have a few times. I have been to Costa Rica, Turks and Caicos, Germany, Spain, France, Alzerbaijan, Canada, England, Guatemala, and that’s all I think.

Q: What is your favorite quote and why?
A: My dad told me, “if you can be something or do something, do it. Someone has to fill those shoes, so why not you?” and I think I will always live by that.

Q: Apples or Oranges?
A: Apples… that is a hard one though.

Q: Do you have any siblings?
A: I have an older brother and his name is Jack. He is 23 and went to the Coast Guard Academy and is now in Flight School.

Q: What is the ideal weather you prefer to play soccer in?
A: California, sunny, slight breeze weather

Q: Who is your soccer idol?
A: I would say Hope or Tim.  They are two players I am constantly learning from, and they are tremendous athletes.

Q: What three words describe who you are as a person?
A: Caring, competitive, I like to think I’m funny too.

Q: What is your dream job?
A: Playing professional soccer and being contracted with the US Women’s National Team

Q: PB&J or Grilled Cheese?
A: Grilled Cheese

Q: What is your absolute favorite soccer drill?
A: As a goalkeeper we do some crazy drills, but I love a drill where you do some sort of footwork and move across the goal to make a big time save.

Q: What is your favorite emoji?
A: The monkey that covers his eyes.

Q: Do you have any superstitions?
A: I do, I have a routine before every game and I used to have one before practice, but I thought it became a little much, so just games.

Q: What is your favorite food of all time?
A: Steak

Q: Do you have a phobia? If so, what?
A: I do, losing my best friends or a family member or my dogs terrifies me. Also the unknown is something that makes me anxious but gives me motivation.

Q: If you were stranded on a deserted island, what one thing could you not live without?
A: Music.

Q: Define “team” in your own words
A: I would say a group of people who have the same goals and are on the same page with how to achieve those goal(s). A team has to have perfect chemistry and each individual has to mesh with one another for the goal to be achieved.

Q: If you had to sing karaoke, what song would you sing?
A: Stacy’s Mom

Q: ECNL prepared me for _________
A: ECNL enabled my to get noticed by college coaches and prepared me for the next level of play. The games were very competitive and there was always pressure because you were being watched every minute.
